Overview
Dumbarton finished 20th, out of 22, in the First Division with 30 points, some way behind champions Celtic. Unfortunately the introduction of automatic promotion/relegation saw Dumbarton relegated to Division Two for the following season.
In the Scottish Cup, Dumbarton were knocked out in the first round by Aberdeen.
Locally, Dumbarton won both the Dumbartonshire Cup and the Dumbartonshire Charity Cup by defeating Dumbarton Harp (after a replay) and Clydebank (on corners won) respectively.
