Season 1879–80 was the seventh Scottish football season in which Kilmarnock competed at a national level, entering the inaugural Scottish Cup.

Overview
Kilmarnock entered the inaugural Scottish Cup, the first round tie against Ayr Academicals was a walkover and Kilmarnock progressed. They then lost 6-2 to Mauchline in the Second round.
