The 1733 cricket season was the 136th in England since the earliest known definite reference to cricket in January 1597 (i.e., Old Style – 1598 New Style). Details have survived of twelve important matches. Two local matches played in Hampshire are the earliest known to have been played in the county.

Tuesday, 22 May. The earliest known match in Hampshire took place at Stubbington, near Portsmouth, when a team of bachelors were beaten "most shamefully" by a team of married men. The report for this and the following match was found in the American Weekly Mercury, a Philadelphia newspaper, dated 20 to 27 September 1733.

Tuesday, 29 May. The return match of the above took place at Titchfield and the married men won again.
