Production
On May 9, 2012 it was announced that Gil Junger will direct the film from his own script, Intandem Films and Mad Chance Productions will be producing the film, Andrew Lazar will be the producer who develop the original film 10 Things I Hate About You in 1999 with Junger. Vision Films acquired the distribution rights to the film.
Casting
On May 9, 2012 Hayley Atwell was added to the cast of the film to star as lead. On November 14, 2012 Evan Rachel Wood joined the film to play the lead role. On November 30, 2012 Elodie Yung joined to star along with Wood. On January 14, 2013 Billy Campbell also joined the cast of the film.
Filming
The shooting was set to start in November 2012 in Los Angeles. On December 17, 2012 the shooting of the film began in LA, where Wood was spotted on the set during the filming. On November 7, 2013 it was announced that the filming will re-commence on December 11 in and around Los Angeles and Malibu, and it will wrapped up filming in April 2014. On January 14, 2013 THR confirmed that shooting is underway in LA. Wood again spotted during the filming on January 6, 2013 in Malibu, after taking a Christmas break. On February 19, 2014 the filming was undergoing.
