1 Puppis

1 Puppis (1 Pup) is a class M1III (red giant) star in the constellation of Puppis. Its apparent magnitude is 4.59.

1 Puppis lies in the northern part of the constellation at a distance of 770 ly, east of Aludra in Canis Major and just above the white supergiant, 3 Puppis. It has several components besides the primary: B, of magnitude 13.7 and separation 26", C, of magnitude 9.21 and separation 78.8, and D, of magnitude 10.84 and separation from C of 1.3".
