Geography

Čtveřín is located between the valleys of the Čtveřínský potok and Ohrazenický potok rivers in the Turnovská pahorkatina (Turnovská hill country). To the north is Mount Doubí (316 m). The village is accessed by the Pardubice–Liberec Railway; the nearest train station is Doubí u Turnova in Doubí. The R10 expressway / E65 leads south. The Ohrazenice 71/44 junction with the R35 expressway / E442 lies to the northeast.

The neighbouring towns are Doubí to the north, Lažany to the northeast, Ohrazenice to the east, Nudvojovice to the southeast, Přepeře to the south, Příšovice to the southwest, Svijanský Újezd to the west and both Pěnčín and Kamenec to the northwest.

History

The first written mention of the village dates from 1394.

After the abolition of the hereditary lordship in 1850, Štveřín was part of the district in the county of Turnov with Doubí, Husa and Sychrov. In June 1866, during the Austro-Prussian War, there were clashes between Prussia and Austria near Štveřín. Since 1919, the settlement has been called Čtveřín.

At the beginning of 1961, the village of Sychrov was raised to the rank of community and Čtveřín was amalgamated into it. At the same time, it was assigned to Liberec District. Since 1990 Čtveřín has been its own community again. The most notable building is the old school, which is now the village council building.

Constituent communities

The community of Čtveřín consists of Čtveřín (Stwerschin) und Doubí (Dauby).
