Ávvir is a newspaper written in the Northern Sámi language that is the result of the merger between Min Áigi and Áššu. Ávvir is currently published five times a week, from Tuesday to Saturday.

History and profile
The first edition of Ávvir was published on Sami National Day, i.e., 6 February 2008 The newspaper's offices are located in Kárášjohka and Kautokeino.
The word ávvir means "care" or "attention" in Northern Sámi. The name was proposed by Laila Susanne Vars of Láhpoluoppal in Kautokeino.
