Zhang Hongliang (simplified Chinese: 张宏良; traditional Chinese: 張宏良; pinyin: Zhāng Hóngliáng), is a Chinese Maoist author, social commentator, scholar and former teacher at the Minzu University of China. Chinese scholar Kong Qingdong called him the "Red Tank Driver" (红色坦克手).

Biography

Zhang has served as columnist of several publications, such as the Red Song Club Network(红歌会网), Minzu Fuxing Network(民族复兴网) and Utopia(乌有之乡). He is a supporter of communist orthodoxy and has expressed nationalist beliefs, as well as sentiments critical of the United States, Japan, South Korea and the West. As a Maoist, he is a critic of Deng Xiaoping and his followers because of the "revisionist" Reform and Opening.
