Yoshizaki-gobō (吉崎御坊) was a temple in the town of Arawashi, Sakai District, Fukui Prefecture, Japan. It is best known for its connection to Rennyo, the founder of the Ikkō sect of Buddhism. At the time, it was simply Yoshizaki, Echizen Province.
When Rennyo was chased from Kyoto and out of his position as Chief Abbot of the Hongan-ji, in 1471, Ichijoin of Kōfuku-ji, priest of Yoshizaki, left it to Rennyo. He built a priestly residence there, and quickly gained a following among the surrounding peasants and farmers which developed into the sect of Ikkō, or 'single-mindedness.'
The residence was destroyed by fire in 1474 and rebuilt, only to be destroyed again the following year, after which Rennyo left, returning to Kyoto. In 1506, Echizen Province was invaded by the Asakura clan of Kaga Province. The Ikkō-ikki failed to fight them off, the priests' residence was destroyed, and Yoshizaki was abandoned as a temple.
A new temple was built in 1747, belonging to a different sect.
