The Yoruba Wikipedia is the Yoruba language edition of Wikipedia. Begun in October 2002, it now has 31552 articles, making it the 92nd largest Wikipedia. Yoruba Wikipedia has been one of the top 3 or 4 African language Wikipedias in terms of number of articles since about 2008.
A surge in number of new articles in 2011 brought the Yoruba Wikipedia article count to over 30,000, making it for a time the largest African language Wikipedia. At Wikimania 2012, Jimmy Wales recognized the main contributor with the second annual "Jimbo Award."
