History

York Township was named after the state of New York, the point of origin of many of its early settlers.

Bonneyville Mill was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1976.

Geography

According to the 2010 census, the township has a total area of 25.54 square miles (66.1 km2), of which 25.31 square miles (65.6 km2) (or 99.10%) is land and 0.23 square miles (0.60 km2) (or 0.90%) is water. Hunter Lake is in this township.
