The Mahatma Gandhi Lift Irrigation Project (K.L.I.S) is the largest lift irrigation project in Asia. It is proposed to provide irrigation and drinking water facility to the chronically drought affected upland areas in Mahabubnagar district by lifting water from the River Krishna from the foreshore of the Neelam Sanjiva Reddy Sagar (Srisailam Reservoir) Project.
