Yelachenahalli metro station is located across Kanakapura Road. It's located between Yelechenahalli and Konakakunte suburbs that lies on either sides of Kanakapura Road. Next to the Yelachenahalli Metro station, stands the electrical switch yard for the metro line. This area was earlier occupied by Shravanthi Kalyana Mantapa. The land was acquired by Namma Metro to build the Puttenahalli Metro Station.

Once operational, it will help the residents to commute straight to Majestic Station. Currently, the BMTC buses ply across this route mostly end in KR Market. As a result, residents had to switch at Banashankari or JP Nagar 6th Phase to catch the BMTC buses to Majestic and other parts of the city.

Yelachenahalli Metro station will also serve the residents of Reserve Bank Layout, Kumaraswamy Layout, ISRO Layout, which are typically with in 30 mts radius of the metro station. Residents beyond Konakunte, like Kaggalipura and beyond will also benefit from this Metro station.

The metro station was initially named Puttenahalli Metro station. The station being closer to Yelachenahalli than Puttenahalli, was renamed to Yelachenahalli Metro station in July 2016, prior to commencement of operations on this stretch of the metro line.
