Yeast deletion project is a project to create data for a near-complete collection of gene-deletion mutants of the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae. Each strain carries a precise deletion of one of the genes in the genome, and has been functionally characterized. The fitness contribution of each gene was quantitatively assessed under six different growth conditions. Determining the effect of gene deletion is a fundamental approach to understanding gene function, providing an unparalleled resource for the scientific community.
