The International Committee of the Red Cross were never allowed to monitor the prison's conditions.

One of the most famous prisoners has been Samir Geagea, the Christian leader of the Lebanese Forces political party and former militia . Geagea spent 11-years, 3-months and 5-days in a 2 x 3 prison cell which he describes as, "a Dungeon." He was released in 2005 to a hero's welcome as part of the Cedar Revolution revolt against the Syrian controlled government.
