Wych Cross is a town in the Wealden district of East Sussex about midway between London and the English Channel, with a population of under 1000 people. "Wych" may refer to Elm trees, or to St. Richard de la Wych, bishop of Chichester. The town stands at the crossroads between Lewes and Brighton on the one side, and Maresfield, Eastbourne and Hastings on the other. Wych Cross is known to contain fine plasterwork, and is adjacent to Ashdown Forest.
