"Would You Catch a Falling Star" is a song written by Bobby Braddock, and recorded by American country music artist John Anderson. It was released in April 1982 as the second single from the album I Just Came Home to Count the Memories. The song reached number 6 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart.

Song content

"Would You Catch a Falling Star" is a tongue in cheek look at the pitfalls of stardom and fame, told through the eyes of a one-time superstar whose drawing power and appeal to fans was fading.

The song opens with the performer, a one-time superstar, finishing a concert at a small, half-filled arena; he tries desperately to live up to the glory and peak of his one-time fame. He then departs backstage, half drunk and tells his companion, "Would you catch a falling star before he crashes to the ground." The singer—complaining that nobody seems to remember him—then bitterly muses at how he once had it all: a silver-plated bus, millions of fans, a large mansion and groupies surrounding him; now, he just has a van, a small touring entourage and no home.
