Workspot is based in Cupertino, California. It provides Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) software to help enterprise IT departments deliver apps and data to mobile devices. Workspot was recognized by Gartner as a 'Cool Vendor' in endpoint computing for 2014. On July 18, 2014, Workspot Secured $6.5 million in Series A funding from Helion Ventures, Translink Capital and Qualcomm.

History
Workspot was founded on August 1, 2012 by Ty Wang, Puneet Chawla, and Amitabh Sinha. Amitabh Sinha is the CEO, Puneet Chawla is the CTO, and Ty Wang is the vice-president. Workspot raised seed funding from KPCB, Norwest, and Redpoint. Prior to Workspot, Amitabh Sinha was the General Manager of Enterprise Desktops and Applications at Citrix. Puneet Chawla was the first engineer on the VMware View product at VMware. Ty Wang was the VP of Business Development at cloud messaging startup Twilio.
Workspot bought the name workspot from Greg Bryant in April 2013.
Workspot was launched at the Techcrunch Disrupt Event in New York in April 2013.
Workspot launched as a freemium product providing free mobile access and control.
Awards
Network World featured Workspot as one of eight 'hot mobile startups to watch'. BusinessBee named Workspot as one of four startups "redefining the workplace". Workspot was recognized by Gartner as a 'cool vendor' in endpoint computing for 2014. Business Insider named Workspot as one of the top 17 "hottest enterprise mobile startups".
Concept
Federica Troni and Mark Margevicius introduced the concept of Workspace Aggregator to solve the problem of BYOD. Ever since the iPad was released by Apple in 2009, BYOD has become an increasingly difficult problem for IT. Until recently, IT has purchased, provisioned, and managed all enterprise desktops that run Microsoft Windows software. There are nearly 500 million enterprise desktops in the world. However, with the introduction of smart phones and tablets, there are far more devices that are owned by the end user - 750 million PCs and Macs, 1.5 billion smart phones, and 500 million tablets. These also run different operating systems such as iOS, Android, Windows, and macOS.
Product
Workspot, Inc. created a mobile application called "Workspot". The workspot client is a cross-platform implementation of a workspace. An end user can access all their applications and data inside the workspace client. Workspot has an embedded vpn client that can connect seamlessly to widely deployed network appliances from Cisco, Juniper, F5, and Dell SonicWall. The Workspot client also has logic to connect to many different Single Sign-On (SSO) solutions from NTLM, Kerberos,Siteminder, Oracle iDP, and SAML 2.0 providers.
