This school has the most students of any school in Bartow County. The school offers a wide range of academic and extracurricular programs, including interactive clubs, performing arts programs, and competition against other schools in each of Woodland's sports programs. Since Woodland has such a large student intake, all of its sports are in 5A Classification in Region 5.

History

Woodland High School was founded in 1997, the third high school built in Bartow County. It is located on a 120-acre campus in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, near the Etowah River.

The school's first principal was Dr. Nettie Holt.

Woodland offers a plethora of academic, artistic, athletic, and social activities for students.

Academics

In the 2009-10 school year Woodland had a graduation rate of 86.1%, the highest among Bartow County's four public high schools.

Woodland offers classes in the humanities, social sciences, physical sciences, life sciences, and healthcare.

All students residing in the required school zone are eligible to enroll.

Student body

Woodland's student body is 85% white, 8% black, and 6% Hispanic.

Woodland has a dress code for students, but does not require uniforms.

Campus facilities

Woodland's main classroom building houses the front offices, nurse's office, weight room, dance room, cafeteria, campus police, two gyms, and the newly built 9th Grade Academy.

Students first attended the free-standing 9th Grade Academy in the 2009-10 school year. It is a two story building which can hold 100-125 students.

The Performing Arts Building contains an art gallery and music classrooms.

While basketball games and classes are held in both gyms, the main gym hosts the varsity basketball games, wrestling matches, cheerleading competitions, and other ceremonies. The school's outdoor athletic facilities include the football/soccer field and their practice field; baseball and softball fields; the tennis courts and the track; and the field house, where athletes change clothes, prepare for games and meets, and where the football coaches' offices are.

Athletics

Woodland High School's athletics are in Classification AAAAA and in Region 7 as of the 2014-15 school year. Woodland has county rivals like Adairsville, Cartersville, and Cass.

Opponents

Woodland's main rival is Cass High School . Other athletic opponents include Creekview High School, River Ridge High School, Dalton High School, Rome High School, Sequoyah High School, Cambridge High School, Kell High School, Forsyth Central High School, Sprayberry High School, Riverwood High School, North Springs High School and North Atlanta High School.

Achievements

Woodland's golf team won the Region 5-AAAAA golf tournament in 2013.

The Woodland Lady Wildcats girls' soccer team set a record with most wins in a season with their 7-0 victory over Hiram in 2013.
