The Wisconsin Towns Association (WTA) is an organization which represents the interests of Wisconsin's 1,259 towns and the 1.7 million people who live in them. They are a non-profit and non-partisan association. It was created in 1947 under s.60.23(14) of the Wisconsin Statutes. It is separated into six districts, but is based out of Shawano, Wisconsin. The organization values local control and believes in the efficacy of town government. Some issues that they lobby for are increasing transportation funds to towns, changing laws relating to annexation and boundaries, reforming land use laws.
