The 29th District of the Wisconsin Senate is located in north-central Wisconsin, and is currently composed of Marathon, Barron, Bayfield, Price, Rusk, and Taylor Counties. Other than the metro Wausau area, the district is a mostly rural.

In June 2012, Jerry Petrowski, a Republican, was elected to fill Galloway's seat, after she surprisingly resigned in the wake of a Recall election against her.

The area of the 29th Senate District contains three State Assembly Districts:

  • The 85th (represented by David Heaton)
  • The 86th (represented by John Spiros)
  • The 87th (represented by James Edming)
  • Most of the district (exceptions are portions of Shawano County) is also located within Wisconsin's 7th congressional district, which is represented by U.S. Representative Sean Duffy.
