The Winyaw Indians (also Winyah, Weenee) were a Native American tribe living near Winyah Bay, Black River, and the lower course of the Pee Dee River in South Carolina. The Winyaw people fought the English in 1715 and became extinct.

Population

900 includes the Waccamaw, Winyaw, Hooks, etc."; 106 (The census of 1715), one village.

The tribe soon disappeared from history, probably uniting with the Waccamaw. Winyah Bay in South Carolina, however, still bears their name.
