Willy Tscherning (15 June 1917 – 20 January 2012) was a highly decorated Oberfeldwebel in the Luftwaffe during World War II. He was also a recipient of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross. The Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross was awarded to recognise extreme battlefield bravery or successful military leadership. Willy Tscherning was captured by American forces on 6 May 1945, and was released from captivity on 1 May 1946.
