William Usmar (4 October 1812 – 12 May 1879) was an English cricketer who played for Kent. He was born and died in West Malling.
Usmar made a single first-class appearance in 1841, against Sussex. As an upper-middle order batsman, he was bowled out by William Lillywhite in the first innings in which he batted, and finished not out for 0 in his second innings.
Family History
William Usmar (b. 4 Oct 1812, d. 12 May 1879) was married to Bridget Terry Smart (b. 18 Jul 1811, d. circa 1881) on 5 Jul 1840 at the Parish Church in Maidstone, Kent, England.
William was the eldest of four brothers; the others being Frederick Stephen (b. 2 Apr 1816, d. abt 1875), John (16 May 1818, d. 13 May 1819) and George Thomas (b.22 May 1820, d. 29 Sept 1848).
William's father was Oliver Usmar (b. 21 Jun 1788, d 25 Jul 1872) and mother Mary Anne Baker (b. Abt. 1792, England, d. 30 Sep 1831) were married on 16 Sep 1812 in St Margaret's Church, Rochester, Kent. Oliver was from Egerton in the county of Kent and Mary was from Tuddenham in the county of Suffolk. Available records indicate that Oliver and Mary had settled in West Malling by 1812.
