2014 State of the Town of Brighton


William Moehle is the Supervisor of the Town in Brighton, in Monroe County, in New York State. He is the chief executive office of the town and leads the administrative government for the town.

He was first elected as the Democratic candidate for Supervisor of Brighton in 2011 with 4,996 votes out of a total of 8,963 votes cast. Before his election as Supervisor, he served as Attorney to the Town of Brighton for over 18 years. Prior to that, he had been a partner at the Rochester, New York law firm, Underberg & Kessler and an associate at the law firm of Nixon, Hargrave, Devans & Doyle (now Nixon Peabody, LLP) in Rochester. He has been active in community organizations in Brighton, where he served as President of Brighton Rotary Club and the Brighton Chamber of Commerce, and also served on a number of other business and community Boards.

He has been involved in the fight against hydrofracking in the State of New York and is a member of Mayors for Equality, a national group of mayors supporting equal marriage rights.

He is running for reelection as Brighton Supervisor in November, 2013 and has been nominated by the Democratic Party.

Moehle was born in Detroit, Michigan on March 14, 1955. He graduated from Williams College in 1976 with a B.A. cum laude in Political Economy. He graduated from New York University Law School in 1979.
