William Egerton (1684–1732)

Hon. William Egerton (1684–1732) was an English Army officer and politician, 4th son of John Egerton, 3rd Earl of Bridgwater.

He was MP for Buckinghamshire in 27 February 1706 – 1708 and for Brackley in 1708 – 20 April 1714 and 1715 – 15 July 1732.

Egerton was also a soldier who, after serving in the 6th Foot and the 1st Foot Guards, was made Colonel of his own infantry regiment (1715–19), later known as the 36th Regiment of Foot and of a second regiment, later the 20th Regiment of Foot, from 1719 to his death.

He married Anna Maria, the daughter of Admiral Sir George Saunders, Commissioner of the Navy, and had 3 daughters.
