William Carr


William Carr II, FRS (died 16 May 1742) was an English mayor and Member of Parliament (MP) for Newcastle-upon-Tyne.

He was the son of merchant Joseph Carr of Newcastle. He himself became a merchant and a member of the Newcastle Company of Merchant Adventurers.

He was elected Mayor of Newcastle for 1724 and 1737 and MP for Newcastle in 1722 (sitting until 1727). He was defeated in the Parliamentary election of 1727 but returned on petition in 1729 (until 1734).

He was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1727.
