Wilhelm Kubel (16 December 1917 – 29 April 2003) was a highly decorated Hauptmann of the Reserves in the Wehrmacht and an Oberstleutnant in the Bundeswehr. He was also a recipient of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross. The Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross was awarded to recognise extreme battlefield bravery or successful military leadership. Wilhelm Kubel joined the Bundeswehr in 1956 and served to retirement in 1974,
