Synopsis
Bernadette, her husband Elgin (a famed and genius computer scientist who leads the design team at Microsoft for Bill Gates's favorite project) and their daughter Bee live in Seattle. Bernadette (a notorious former architect) grants her daughter's wish, a family trip to Antarctica, and gets enveloped in the plans. She does this as a coping mechanism because for years she has lived in a city she hates with a life she never wanted, and is just barely holding onto her sanity. After everything goes wrong, Bernadette suddenly disappears, leaving Bee to search through old documents and emails to try to find her mother. While doing this, she discovers her mother's troubled past.
