"What Took You So Long?" is a song by British recording artist Emma Bunton from her debut solo album, A Girl Like Me (2001). Written by Bunton, Richard Stannard, Julian Gallagher, Martin Harrington, John Themis and Dave Morgan, the song was released as the album's lead single in the United Kingdom, where it debuted at number one with 76,000 copies sold in its first week, making it the singer's first and only number-one single in the United Kingdom. The single also topped the chart in New Zealand. The music video for the single was directed by Greg Masuak and shot on 10 and 11 February 2001 in the Mojave Desert, California. The B-side, "(Hey You) Free Up Your Mind" was previously featured on Pokémon: The First Movie Soundtrack.
