The song is the German cover version of Francis' U. S. recording Where the Boys Are, of which she recorded seven versions in total:
Although every version was a major hit in the respective countries, the German version was only a minor success, peaking at # 25.
The B-side of "Wenn ich träume" was "Niemand", the German cover version of "No One", B-side of "Where the Boys Are" in the United States. "No One" was recorded by Francis in five languages:
