The Wellington City mayoral election, 1992 was part of the New Zealand local elections, 1992. In 1992, elections were held for the Mayor of Wellington plus other local government roles including 21 councillors. Fran Wilde, the former MP for Wellington Central, was elected as mayor of Wellington replacing incumbent Sir James Belich who had retired. Wilde became Wellington's first female mayor, defeating former Deputy Mayor Helene Ritchie and her predecessor as MP for Wellington Central Ken Comber. The polling was conducted using the standard first-past-the-post electoral method.

Candidates were also elected from wards to the Wellington City Council.
