The women's water polo tournament at the 2011 World Aquatics Championships in Shanghai, China was held from July 17 to July 29.

Qualification

  • China qualified as the third team from the World Cup, but already had qualified through the host nation slot. This meant, Greece the highest finisher in the World Cup that had not qualified through the World League or World Cup qualified for the tournament.
