Washington National Forest

Washington National Forest was established by the General Land Office as the Washington Forest Reserve in Washington on February 22, 1897 with 3,594,240 acres (14,545.4 km²). After the transfer of federal forests to the U.S. Forest Service in 1905, it became a National Forest on March 4, 1907. On July 1, 1908, Chelan National Forest was established with a portion of Washington. On January 21, 1924 Washington was renamed Mount Baker National Forest. The lands presently exist as Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest.
