It forms a city municipal corporation council electoral constituency and is a part of Beleghata (Vidhan Sabha constituency).

The boundaries of the ward are: Dr. M.N.Chatterjee Sarani is in the north. The Circular Canal is to the east. Beliaghata Road is to the south. Acharyya Jagadish Bose Road and Acharyya Prafulla Chandra Road (with hump flyover) are to the west.
