It forms a city municipal corporation council electoral constituency and is a part of Beleghata (Vidhan Sabha constituency).

The boundaries of the ward are as follows: The Eastern Railway line, Dhyan Debi Khanna Road and Hem Chandra Naskar Road are in the north. Hem Chandra Naskar Road, Raja Rajendralal Mitra Road and Kankurgachi Chord are to the east. The Circular Canal and the Beliaghata Canal, Dr. Panchanan Mitra Lane and Abinash Seshmal Lane are to the south. The Eastern Railway line is to the west.

As per 2011 Census of India Ward No. 35, Kolkata Municipal Corporation, had a total population of 35,024, of which 17,481 (50%) were males and 17,543 (50%) were females.
