Waldo Sponton is a former Argentinian footballer who began his career in his native country and concluded his career in North America.

Playing career

Sponton began his career in the Argentine Primera División in 1994 with Club Atlético Platense, where he appeared in 16 matches and scored one goal. In 1997, he signed with Asociación Deportiva Berazategui, and in 1999 he went to Peru to sign with Deportivo Municipal. In 2000, he went abroad to America to sign with amateur side Uruguay Soccer Club. Sponton returned to the professional level in 2001 by signing with the Toronto Lynx of the USL A-League. His signing was announced on April 24, 2001. He made his debut for the club on May 27, 2001 in a match against the Rochester Rhinos. He signed with Toronto Supra of the Canadian Professional Soccer League in 2002. With the Supra the club finished last in the Eastern Conference and thus failed to secure a postseason berth.
