Wakadori Island is the southernmost island in a cluster of three small islands that lie 0.5 nautical miles (0.9 km) northwest of the strait that separates Ongul Island and East Ongul Island. Mapped from surveys and air photos by the Japanese Antarctic Research Expedition (JARE), 1957-62. The name "Wakadori-jima" (young bird island) was given by JARE Headquarters in 1972.
