History

The station went on the air as WGLY, a Christian Hits station in February 1976 on 98.3 FM. They could only operate as a class A FM station with 1,100 watts from a height of 460 feet above average terrain to cover southern Dade county, FL. This would later change, as the FCC amended its method of allocating domestic FM radio stations to channels. For a short time, they had a New Age Jazz format after the format was dropped by a station on 95.7, also on the same tower at 17107 SW 248 St, owned by then WCIX(TV).

WTHM was born on November 1, 1984. On September 15, 1988, the station changed its call sign to WAQI-FM, on April 16, 1990, to WRTO, on October 21, 2003, to WRTO-FM, on June 24, 2010, to WURM, and on July 28, 2010, to the current WRTO-FM
