WKFD: Wickford (1961-2001)
WKFD was the callsign of an A.M. radio station which existed from 1961 until 2001 when its license was deleted after being silent for 3 years (the station last broadcast on July 29, 1998). WKFD was licensed to the village of Wickford, Rhode Island. The station operated on 1370kc. with a transmitter power of 250 watts daytime, 130 watts nighttime. Its transmitter was located at 19 Updike Avenue.
WKFD: Charlestown (construction permit, 2006-2009)
The 1370 frequency was applied to be reactivated from Charlestown, Rhode Island with a daytime power of 2.5 kW & a nighttime power of 5 kW. This construction permit never made it on to the air & was deleted in November 2009.
