WDUX (800 AM) is a radio station broadcasting a Classic Country format. Licensed to Waupaca, Wisconsin, United States, the station serves the Wausau-Stevens Point area. The station is owned by Laird Broadcasting Company, Inc. and features programming from ABC Radio and Dial Global Radio Network.

History

The station began broadcasting on April 29, 1956, at 800 kHz, as a daytime operation, with 500 watts, then 1 kW. Around 1964, daytime power was increased to 5 kW, with a pre-sunrise power of 500 watts. Post-sunset authority was granted in 1987. Shortly after, "AM 800" ended its simulcast of its Contemporary Formatted FM Sister Station, and began broadcasting an Automated Country Music format, switching to the Dial Global "Classic Hit Country" format, and a digital automation system in the fall of 1999. Today, that format is still in place, and Local News Blocks at 7:30am, 12 Noon & 5pm, are still simulcasted.
