Viktor Pimenov was a cameraman for Vaynakh Television, a Chechen station supported by Moscow-backed forces.
Death
On March 11, 1996, Viktor Pimenov was fatally shot in the back by a sniper positioned on the roof of a sixteen-story building in Grozny, the Chechen capital. Pimenov had been filming the devastation caused by the March 6–9 rebel raid on the city. It was alleged he was singled out as a target.
