Template:Ficha de facultad The veterinary faculty of the University of Leon is one of the oldest and most prestigious faculties in Spain. It was founded in 1852 as the veterinary school in Leon in the San Marcos convent. Today it is situated in the university campus of Vegazana (Universidad de León)

It possesses modern facilities for teaching and research, like the veterinary clinical hospital and the Institute of Livestock Development, and Food Processing. It works closely with the Faculty of Biological and Environmental Sciences, sharing some buildings in the Vegazana campus with the Centre for Biomedical and Genetic Research, and the Institute of Environment .

Furthermore various scientific centres in the community of Castilla and Leon function under the control and service of the Faculty of Veterinary medicine of Leon, such as the Institute of Biotechnology (INBIOTEC) (in collaboration with the FCCBBAA), The Institute of Toxicology (INTOXCAL) or the Centre for Animal Selection and Reproduction (CENSYRA).
