Veselie is a village in Primorsko Municipality, in Burgas Province, in southeastern Bulgaria.

Geography

The village is situated in a valley near Ropotamo River, and part of it and Strandzha, about 30 km from Bourgas on the way to Primorsko. Located about 15 kilometers from two of the most beautiful resorts - Primorsko and Sozopol.

History

Village Veselie was established during the Ottoman rule in 1731 to lands around the village managed Saram Bay, and his subjects built their homes, with the result that occurred village. The old name is Saramusa. In 1861, near the village accommodated a group of Circassians, expelled from the Caucasus. Circassians establish a settlement named Chenger, but all attempts by the Turkish government official to become farmers in Caucasians fail. Circassians indulge in looting, stealing cattle, rape and murder. During the Russo-Turkish War of 1877-78, the Circassians from the village Chenger participate in various bandit gang and terrorize the local population. Some of them are mobilized into the army of Mehmed Ali Pasha, located in northeastern Bulgaria. After the general retreat of the Ottoman army in the winter of 1878 Circassians from Chenger leave the village and settled in Turkey.

Religion

Christianity. The village has a church of St. Elijah, renovated 6 years ago and a chapel.

Cultural and Natural memorability

The village church is Ivan, and beyond - Chapel St. Constantine and Elena. Mara of the hill and Lishanka is depriving the legendary Mara (girl objected to the will of the Turks,rebel disguised as and killed on the hill and Mara Lishanka) - Cross, constrained by two wooden sticks and a plate with the name of Mara. Near the grave of Mara is a tree that is 900 years and still can not grow or wither. It is possible, however, this name is a remnant of the custom Mara Lishanka that runs in this part of Bulgaria.

Regular events

About the village feast is celebrated the first Sunday of August or the last Sunday of July. As the celebrations began on Saturday with children's competitions, and on Sunday held traditionally for the Strandja national struggle in which even foreigners are involved.

Stoyan Trichkov personalities - choose the name of the village Georgi Popov Georgi Mavrodiev, Apostol Karamitev, Bozidar Dimitrov - Director of the National History Museum, Jani-Vasarmolu one of the first permanently settled in the village.

Honour

Veselie Glacier in Antarctica is named after the village.
