In the 1935 Canadian federal election, Hervé Ferland, who listed his profession as ‘merchant’, unsuccessfully sought election in Verdun riding in Quebec as the Verdun candidate. He won 4,124 votes, 16.8% of the popular vote, placing third in a field of 11 candidates, behind the Conservative Party and Co-operative Commonwealth Federation candidates.
