Vein graft disease

Vein graft disease is a generic reference to the progressive degradation and buildup of atheroma and clots within the ever thickening wall of veins which are used as arteries during surgical bypass operations. Often, over days to less than a decade, the sections of veins which are used as bypass grafts (sewn into the side of arteries as another path for blood to flow through) deform, narrow and occlude.
