Plot summary

Grace discovers that her beloved captain from The Nocturne, Obsidian Darke, was back, but much different. She fulfills her role as a powerful healer, discovering secrets at the Sanctuary. Connor and the rest of the Pirate Federation work with the Vampirates, who now identify themselves as The Nocturnals, against the growing group of renegade Vampirates led by Sidorio and Lady Lola. Connor's disgust with himself as a dhampir is one of the challenges he must face. The Tempest twins deal with their fears and play their part in the war. A prophecy states that one of them will die. While this is going on Sidorio and Lola are busy on their ships taking care of their new borns, Evil and Hunter. At the end of the book there's a huge fight in which Conner "dies," but in fact, he hid a second part of his body else where were he survived. Cheng Li dies (but you read that in "Heaven" she meets Commodore Kuo and her father, Chang Ko Li and they tell her that she is dead and that she will be a legend and that they are proud of her), and some of the crew steals Lola's baby, Evil, not Hunter through, because it was too risky, to keep them from dying. Evil then goes to Lorcan and Grace, where they take care of him. Conner sails off for 7 years to stop being a dhampir, but promises to come back and fulfill his dream of being a pirate captain. Grace and Lorcan then attend Darcy's wedding as a couple.
