VHS J125601.92-125723.9 (abbreviated as VHS 1256-1257 or HSV 1 256) is a type L brown dwarf of spectral type M7.5 located approximately 13 parsecs from the sun. It is the central object of a planetary system with one known confirmed planet, VHS 1256-1257 b.

The brown dwarf's only discovered companion planet was first identified and documented by the 2MASS survey in 2015. It orbits at a distance of 102 ± 9 AU and has an estimated mass of approximately 11 times Jupiter's, which is close to the minimum mass required for the thermonuclear fusion of deuterium.
