Vía Alterna is a pop-rock band from Venezuela. It started early in 2007 with a small group of young teenagers with the idea of having a band. The group is formed by José Andrés Rivas, Valentina Mejías, Angelina Guitiérrez and Álvaro Martínez. Recently there were problemes in the band.

Via Alterna of Puerto Rico
Coincidentally in Puerto Rico in the period from the mid-1990s until around 2001–2002 there was a heavy rock band called Via Alterna which had a very strong following and even released a live album. Lead singer Omar now plays in the shock rock band "Las Cargas".
Origin of the name
The name comes from a main way for cars in Puerto La Cruz called Vía Alterna
