Uuni is a brand owned by Tapaninaho Limited, a company based in Edinburgh, Scotland.

History

The company was founded by Kristian Tapaninaho and Darina Garland in 2013.

The company was formed around Tapaninaho’s invention of the worlds first portable and affordable wood-fired oven used for cooking pizzas and other foodstuffs suitable for high temperature baking. Uuni 2 has won several awards including the Retailers’ Choice Award at Glee Birmingham 2015.

The original Uuni was launched on Kickstarter in 2012. Since then the company has launched a new version of the oven each year. Current 2016 model is called Uuni 2S.

In 2014, Uuni launched an accessory product on Kickstarter called Uuni Stack. It’s used for proving dough and storing ingredients. The product was shipped to backers at end of 2015.

The company today employs six people in Edinburgh and London, UK.
